New Episode of the 42 to Doomsday Podcast Out Now

The latest edition of the 42 to Doomsday podcast is available now.

[su_note note_color=”#46a6dd” text_color=”#ffffff”]Episode #55 – Blake’s Heaven[/su_note]

“We are back and in this episode we go all ‘non-canon’ and gather some of fandom’s sharpest minds (plus our’s) and raise a glass, or seven, to the memory of Gareth Thomas and Blake’s 7.

Joining us for a good old pub style ramble through Terry Nation’s second most famous creation are fan favourites Tom, Richard and Dave were we spend a good chunk of time talking all things Blake’s 7, it’s genesis, it’s impact and its legacy. We point out the great episodes, the poor episodes, the characters that worked, those that didn’t, dive deep into some interesting fan theories and essentially geek out at 70’s BBC science fiction.

All that, plus the occasional comment or two about Doctor Who we almost don’t mention the omnirumour and have a chinwag about Bill, the Doctor’s newest inner city London 20 something spunky female companion! Who said Moffat couldn’t innovate…”

MIWK say:

“Yee Jee took a number of photographs during filming and has collected these behind-the-scenes images into this book. But it’s more than that, because as well as photographs from 1996, Yee Jee has taken a number of ‘then-and-now’ images of the filming locations as they look in 2015.

Alongside these photographs, Yee Jee has provided a running text commentary regarding the filming and locations, including some of the local history surrounding them.

This love-letter to the Doctor Who TV Movie is presented in a full colour hardback featuring photographs never previously published.”

Pre-orders are expected to be available in March.

New Years Eve Special – It Was 30 Years Ago

Happy New Year (eve) everyone and to help you bring in the new year in style we release our second minisode / cutaway! The 28th February 1985 saw the first attempt at the cancellation / postponement/ hiatus / whatever of the classic series starring the then Doctor, Colin Baker. To protest (at this let’s be honest ludicrous move) in March of that same year Ian Levine harnessed the vocal talents of many a Z list celebrity to ‘sing’ for the series return to the small screen in a musical opus called Doctor in Distress. To celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of this particular single, Rob and Mark again follow the podcasting herd and proudly release their first DVD commentary to accompany the music video for this fine recording. And just like U2’s middling recent album we are giving it away free!

So get your New Years Eve party rolling in style, for as a special bonus we include the instrumental version of this classic for everyone to sing along!

Latest Edition of the 42 to Doomsday Podcast Released

In the light of Peter Capaldi’s acerbic incarnation, the latest episode of the 42 to Doomsday podcast goes way back to the original acid tongued Time Lord.  We examine the Hartnell era, the man himself, the companions he travelled with, and how much of the show’s future owes itself its formative years.

We chat about series 8 to date and dive deep into our new segment, Dragged from the Archives, we’re no fanzine from yesteryear is safe from our all seeing eye.

We are also very proud to support the Unofficial Doctor Who Charity Anthology, Seasons Of War.  Further information about this fantastic cause can be found on their Facebook page and donations can be made to Caudwell Children

Episode 24 of the 42 to Doomsday Podcast Released

Episode 24
To celebrate the start of series 8, Mark and Rob count down their top five moments in the new series.  We look at cliffhangers, the idea of a community of fans, discuss the 50th anniversary story and compare and contrast between Russell T. Davies and Stephen Moffat.

We also take time out to chat about the first two episodes of Peter Capaldi’s era – has the series changed the way it tells stories, or is Capaldi a square peg in a round hole?

Afterwards, we read letters and Rob drags out a special treat – the longest written diatribe against the era of the Sixth Doctor.  It might make your hair stand on end!
