Video of the Week: Doctor Who LEGO – Cybership

Anyone familiar with the Lego video games such as the insanely fun Star Wars or Harry Potter series’ will be immediately at home with this week’s Video of the Week, imagining what a Doctor Who Lego game might just look like.

Created by Blob Van Damn, this one of a kind video unfortunately isn’t a real release, being a mod of the existing Lego games, but…

With Doctor Who confirmed for Lego Dimensions out this September, this is likely exactly the kind of content we can look forward to!

Blob also produced an earlier video, focusing on the regeneration scene from The Time of the Doctor, it can be watched via YouTube below:

Scary Doctor Who Cameo in New Witcher 3 Game

Winning rave reviews from game outlets, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the third game in the ongoing Witcher franchise from Polish developer CD Projekt RED, published by Bandai Namco… … and it seems there’s a few Doctor Who fans at CD Projekt RED from the evidence of this hidden easter egg in the game!

“The world burns as the Empire of Nilfgaard pierces through the heart of the kingdoms in the north. Geralt of Rivia is pursued by an enemy devoid of mercy-the Wild Hunt, a mythical cavalcade of ghastly riders, harbingers of doom and destruction, capable of destroying entire settlements overnight. Driven by a deeply personal agenda, Geralt must navigate a maze of hostile forces to find and protect the one described in an ancient prophecy. Gritty and merciless, the world the adventure plays out in sets new standards in terms of size, ecosystem complexity and meaningful non-linearity. Experience realistic day and night cycles, observe weather changes that influence gameplay, and conquer the lush environment using arcane witcher lore.”

And the Doctor Who easter egg? Here’s a clue – don’t blink!

Doctor who Legacy Debuts 8-Bit Story Bigger On The Inside

The popular Doctor Who mobile game Doctor Who: Legacy has unveiled it’s latest addition to an already phenomenal app – Bigger on the Inside, an in-game original storyline in gorgeous 8-bit!

The game, developed by Tiny Rebel Games in conjunction with developers Seed Studios, boasts over 80-hours of gameplay and has become arguably the most successful and well-known Doctor Who game of all time. With the game firmly established, Tiny Rebel have taken their ethos of giving fans something new on a regular basis to a whole new level with the addition of Bigger on the Inside.

Speaking to PC Mag, Susan Cummings tells of how the original storyline developed out of speaking to Nathan Skreslet of PixelWho fame, who provides the artwork for the new addition:

“As soon as I saw Nathan’s work, it captured my imagination and I knew I had to create something great around it,”

With a prologue already available, the next chapter of the story will be available later this month and promises an adventure deep into the TARDIS with all 13 incarnations of the Time Lord.

The expansive story will see individual arcs for the 10th, 1st, 4th, 9th and War doctors, but they all will have their own chance to face up against the mastermind behind the plot which they’re trapped in!

Tiny Rebel say:

“The full story of “Bigger on the Inside” will encompass over 100 new levels of gameplay and it will be released episodically.  The first episode, the prologue, which released on 3/25/2015, is entirely free and all costumes drop 100% on successful completion of level!  Subsequent episodes in this optional (but awesome) side story will have a modest charge.  Please note that while we love to keep everything possible within this game free, we have tripled our content over the last year and if we’re to continue our meteoric growth, we need the support of our players!  So we do hope you will unlock and enjoy the rest of the pixel adventure of “Bigger on the Inside” and also, that you will consider unlocking the Fan Area if you have not yet done so!”

Doctor Who: Legacy is available now on iOS, Android, Kindle and Facebook

Doctor Who Coming to Lego Dimensions Game? Second hook-up after Lego Ideas Set?

Leaked images of the new Lego Dimensions range have led to speculation that Doctor Who could feature in the game as part of the first wave releases of figures.

Lego Dimensions is and action-adventure video game developed by Traveller’s Tales and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.

The game follows multiple characters from various Lego sets after a masked villain is breaking into multiple worlds. It follows the same format as both Activision’s Skylanders franchise, Disney Infinity and Nintendo’s Miibo, where the player has Lego figures and a portal which can be played within the game itself.

The leaked X-Box One images, inadvertently released by retailer Walmart, show pictures of the entire range of characters on top of the box which will be released in four waves, the first of which will include the The Lord of the Rings, DC Comics and Wizard of Oz franchises. Analysis of the images released however also reveal releases for Portal, The Simpsons and according to Family Gamer TV, Scooby Doo, Jurassic World and our very own Doctor Who.

If Family Gamer TV is correct, Doctor Who‘s appearance in the game would be the second Doctor Who/Lego crossover this year alongside the impending Lego Ideas set as designed by Andrew Clark.

The set, which features a range of Doctors, companions and monsters received the 10,000 votes required on the Lego Ideas website for the company to consider it for production. However fans will have to wait till later in the year to see what exactly will be produced with the new set.

Emma Owen, UK spokesperson for Lego Ideas, said:

“We’re extremely excited to announce that a Doctor Who and a WALL-E set will be released as our next Lego Ideas fan based sets, congratulations to the designers Andrew Clark and [WALL-E] Angus MacLane! After receiving over 10,000 votes from the online community and having gone through rigorous toy testing from our expert panel, these awesome sets are on track to be on shelves later this year. The final set designs, pricing and availability are being worked out as we speak, so watch this space for the final details!”

Lego Dimensions releases on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U on September 29th and the Doctor Who Lego Ideas Set will also be available later this year.

Tom Baker Comes to Doctor Who Legacy

yg0oyfog1f1zpolgla5iA new update to Doctor Who: Legacy has brought another new Doctor to the game… the one and only Tom Baker!

The update includes:

The new Expert level with a mere 66 seconds to defeat the Mummy (per popular request) – your reward is Expert Brigadier!

A new Black and White costume for the Brigadier was added to the Season 5 level from Greyhound One, “The Brigadier”. Note this is the only place it drops, not in the specials version of Greyhound One for beginners).

TARDIS added to the store, Van Gogh costume added to the store

Tom Baker added to the database. Note that we’re expecting the fine folks at Kotaku to be releasing the code for Tom Baker today. So might want to keep an eye on their site — though we’ll link to it on Facebook and also email all who are on the newsletter mailing list. The code will be good through the end of the weekend.

The Box of Time Crystals sale and the Random Roll sale are still on til the end of the weekend!

Tiny Rebel said:

“Over the last year, we’ve worked rather tirelessly alongside BBC Worldwide, to achieve our goal of adding all the Doctors, all the episodes, and all the allies, in Doctor Who’s 50 year history. Of course, one of the incarnations of the Doctor had to be the last and final – and in this case it was the amazing Tom Baker. We still have a long way to go of course, but we are really proud of the fact that despite launching with only two Doctors less than a year ago, we have now grown to include every single Doctor incarnation—and a great cross section of companions—from throughout the 50 years, and we continue to grow the game weekly.”

Doctor Who Legacy is available for free for iOS, Android, Facebook and Kindle.
